Building a wood paddleboard is much easier when you start with a CNC fishbone kit. The 1/4″ plywood internal frames are precision cut and numbered and simply press fit together. You can build your own paddleboard using plans but the CNC kits are lighter and more accurate than is possible by hand.
We are excited to announce that we have outgrown our current location and are building a new shop. The new shop will allow us to offer an even larger selection of products and services but to facilitate this move we will not be taking any new CNC orders until mid-September. Paddleboard plans are still available during the transition period for customers wanting to start building right away.
Sliver's SUP kits start as exact copies of one the industries best foam boards before being optimized for wood construction. Our building style allows us to copy even very complex organic shapes without having to make any compromises. The process starts by taking a bunch of very precise measurements with a series of digital measuring devices.
The measurements are used to create an exact 3D model of the original foam board. The model is then digitally sliced to create the outlines for our internal frames and is the starting point for our fishbone kits.
2D slices are optimized for hollow wood construction by removing the outer skin's thickness before lightening holes and intersecting notches are added to complete the fishbone frame.
Our in house CNC machine handles the final step of cutting out the fishbone kits. This unique orchestration of technologies, combined with traditional wooden boat building techniques, ensures our boards perform as well in the water as they look on the beach!
